Lego my Lego

It’s time for me to finally put away a lifelong obsession. I have made the difficult decision to sell my entire Lego collection. Over 90 Lego sets. I have collected Lego since I was 7 years old. They will be appearing on ebay this weekend. Over the course of the last month, I have built, photographed, cataloged and destroyed each lego set. All missing pieces have been accounted for. Our family room is filled with boxes and bags of Lego. Shipping all of these sets to the appropriate buyers is going to be a logistical nightmare. I am strangely calm through all this change and chaos. It feels kind of good to declutter my life and my garage. Only one question remains: What do people get me for Christmas now?

My New Ride

Not exactly “news”, but last year I broke down and purchased my first motor scooter. It is a Vespa GT60. It’s design is a tribute to the original Vespa design released back in the ’60s. It’s a limited edition model in that only 250 were made for the U.S. market. Needless to say I love it. It is my daily driver up to Glendale from Manhattan Beach. (60 miles round trip.) It cuts my 1 hour commute through downtown L.A. into a 33 minute commute. It has a maximum speed of 80mph, but I usually like to coast at a lovely 70mph. My only regret in buying it is not buying it early when I worked at Sony Pictures Imageworks in Culver City.

The Big Sur Coastline

For those of you haven’t driven along Highway (1) between Monterrey and San Luis Obispo in the springtime I feel sorry. The hills are a New Zealand-esc green and the drive is chock full of beautiful vistas. Elephant seals and sea otters galore. Guaranteed to please the whole family. Brynn’s parents met up with us there for a rainy-but-pleasant 4 day campout.
